There's nothing wrong, it's just how email works; or doesn't, depending on how you want to look at it.
With the new 4k screens this feature is becoming ESSENTIAL. It's impossible to keep outlook with the font size not customizable. The actual horrible solution is to donwsize to 1080p.
- While in the reading pane of Outlook 2016 click Format > Increase Font Size or press commandâ+ on your keyboard. This should increase the font size of the message content in the Reading Pane. Share| improve this answer.
- To get the text to a size that suits your eyes, you can lower your Mac's resolution, change the desktop icon font size and increase sidebar size or the scale at which web pages render.
- For example, when text that has Calibri font size 14 is sent from Outlook for Mac to Microsoft Outlook for Windows or Outlook Web App, the text may be displayed as a font size other than 14 when the message is received on the other operating system.
For starters, even if you have HTML composition on in Outlook for Mac, unless you change something, anything in the text (such as a different font, using bold, etc.), or drop in a photo, the email is sent out as plain text. On the Windows end though, if you have the email client set to HTML, it will always go out that way. So if that recipient's text is set to 14 point Times, that's what you'll get back.
There's no easy way to control emails. A person may have their client set to always open emails as plain text, which will strip out any HTML info. Then when you get your carefully composed email back, it looks nothing like when you sent it to them.

It's really something you just have to get used to. Email is not word processing, and emails will not always appear to the user, or come back to you as you intended.
